Series > Walls

I was drawn to photographing the walls depicted in this body of work by the aging constellations of architectural forms, shapes, and textures pointing to unselfconscious maintenance, repair, and repurposing solely guided by the pressing demands of functionality. Each wall is photographed flat on with its two-dimensional surface filling the frame edge-to-edge and printed as large-scale display photographs. Much like our cultivated, ad hoc notions of self and the patchwork continuity we call our lives, these exterior veneers mediate in from out and are inscribed with singular, coded histories, at once legible and obscure.
